The Keilor Basketball Association (KBA) Junior domestic competition is graded from A to E grade in the boys space and A to C grade (sometimes D grade) in the girls space. The competition grade range is determined by the KBA office and is based on the number of teams entered into each age group.
Where team numbers in grades are high, a ‘reserve’ grade or tiered grade may be used. For example in U14 Boys there may be multiple D and E grade competitions and they may be called E and E reserve to allow two E grades to be run or E1, E2, E3.
Combined grades, such as an A/B grade, may be used to allow more teams to play in a wider competition or where there are not enough teams nominated for each grade to warrant separate grades. Combing a grade supports a finals series for each grade.
