Four step mandatory registration process for all Aberfeldie Jets Volunteers

1. Mandatory step - Register yourself
Basketball Victoria requires all volunteers to be registered on PlayHQ, separate from player records.
To obtain the link to register please email the Admin Officer asking for such, be sure to advise what team you registering for so the correct link can be emailed to you. Please note that you will need a valid Working with Children's Check to complete the registration.
2. Mandatory step - Hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or recognised exemption (VIT card/VIC POL/AFP)
It is mandated by federal government that all volunteers over the age of 18, require a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) in accordance with the legislation. The only exceptions to this are teachers who are currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and current serving Victorian Police Officer or Australian Federal Police officers (not under suspension).

If you haven't registered for a WWCC with Aberfeldie Jets before, click the link below. It's an easy online process and for volunteer it's free. Once lodged online you will need to finalise your application at a participating Victorian Australia Post outlet and then email the Club admin officer with your application details. Without the WWCC the Club cannot allow you to volunteer. Once you receive your card please take a photo of it and email it to the Club admin officer. If you hold an existing WWCC outside the Club (for your paid employment or other volunteer roles) you will need to update your details and add Aberfeldie Jets as an organisation to your WWCC records.

If you need to renew your WWCC you do so here up to 6 months before the card’s expiry date. You can renew it up to 3 months after is has expired also however you cannot hold a volunteer position with the Club once it has expired.
VIT card holders
VIT card holders need to provide their VIT card number to the Club when registering each season on PlayHQ.
VIT card holders also need to go to this website and add the Club as an organisation they volunteer with, that then generates an email to the Club that we need to hold on file.
Victorian Police or Australian Federal Police active members
Police Officers need to provide their VP number or AFP number to the Club when registering each season on PlayHQ.

3. Mandatory step - Complete a member protection statutory declaration
Basketball Victoria’s Member Protection By-laws mandate that in addition to holding a current Working With Children Check, that all volunteers and employees aged 18 years and over, involved in basketball within Clubs and Associations under their control, are required to complete a Member Protection Statutory Declaration every 2 ½ years.
A signed declaration is also required from members of the Victorian and Federal Police and the Victorian Institute of Teaching, even though they are exempt from holding a Working With Children Check.

Please print and complete the attached Statutory Declaration, including having an authorised witness notarise the form, and email it to [email protected]

4. Mandatory step - Complete online COVID training
All volunteers will need to complete the online COVID training as outlined here which is required under our COVID plan and email a copy of the certificate you obtain to [email protected]
5. Optional step - Complete a coaching course
Anyone with an interest in coaching may also wish to consider attending a coaches course run by Basketball Victoria. At this stage completing a course is optional, however Aberfeldie Jets will reimburse you should you attend. Upcoming courses are listed on this page when they are available.
